Questions?

Do I have to give you my Social Security number, name, or any personal info?
No. Fix My W4 is 100% anonymous. We only ever ask for the numbers we need to calculate your withholding: filing status, expected income, number of qualifying children, other jobs, side income. No SSN. No name. No date of birth. No employer. Nothing that identifies you.
How does it work?
You answer a few quick questions about your household such as: how many jobs, whether you’re married or single or head of household, how many kids under 17, any side income. You also provide details such as Year-To-Date income and taxes withheld from your most current paycheck (don’t worry, we will guide you on how to get this info). Then we calculate the exact numbers to write on each line of your W-4, plus which boxes to check.
My spouse and I both work. Do we both fill one out?
Yes, and this is exactly where most married couples go wrong. We tell you which one of you should check box 2c on Step 2, and exactly what to enter on Step 3 and Step 4 on each of your forms so nothing gets double-counted or missed.
Do I need to update my W-4 every year?
Not automatically, but you should update it any time your life changes: new job, marriage, divorce, new baby, a spouse’s income changes, buying a house, starting a side hustle, or a surprise refund or bill at tax time.
Is this tax advice?
Fix My W4 gives educational estimates built by a CPA, not personalized tax advice for your specific situation. For anything complex or high-stakes, a CPA can give you the full picture.
What if I have other deductions?
This free tool takes into account your standard deduction ($16,100 single, $32,200 married filing jointly, $24,150 head of household). It’s going to stay conservative and not take into consideration any itemized deductions that add up to more than your standard deduction. For additional tax plans and scenarios, please upgrade to full access.
How much does it cost?
Free to start. Answer the questions and see how your W-4 Form should be filled out. If you want more in depth tax planning, you have the choice to upgrade for a low annual fee.
